Don’t be surprised if tomorrow morning you come to know that Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mayawati, Manishankar Ayyar or some MLA or most surprisingly YOU get the Noble for Peace. Don’t ask me “What on the earth I am saying” because Noble Peace Prize is on auction. Recently US President Barack Obama got it, so why can’t you get it?
This is really insane that US president who has barely made 37 weeks in the office and haven’t done any substantial or material thing other than stating that World needs peace and I am going to work on making the World a Nuclear Free place (This world will contain every nation other than US). If just declaring things like “I am working on making this world a better place to live” gets you a Noble prize then why Indian politicians are kept away from receiving Noble for Peace? Our Indian leaders are saying things like “We won’t initiate attack on Pakistan”, “If an attack comes from Pakistan side we would retaliate”, but not to mention that when an attack comes from Pakistan side we don’t do anything more than saying “We condemn the attack from Pakistan”. So doesn’t this stand in line for getting Noble for Peace or any other category?
One question that came in my mind after hearing the news that Barack Obama got the Noble for Peace is, is Noble Peace (or any other category for that matter) so cheap? I think Noble Prize has lost its credibility. Anyone with influential or monetory power can get Noble prize. Getting Noble prize has just becoming as simple as getting some Filmfare or some other local prize.
Now considering the fact that Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Ravindranath Tagore and likes of people have received this Noble Prize in the past, is it commendable that a person like Barack Obama who hasn’t proved anything to the World yet gets a Noble prize? He is yet to prove his mettle and just saying doesn’t mean he has proved. Saying something is very much easy than doing it. I guess nobody should be surprised in the future if Pakistan Ex-chief Parvez Musharraf, Osama Bin Laden or any other terrorist or conman gets a Noble.
I hereby declare that I am not satisfied with the work the Noble Committee has done by giving Peace prize to Barack Obama. It could have been a fair deal if Obama had proved anything. If he does something positive and proves his statement by making this world a better place than now, then it’s ok to confer him something dignified thing like Noble. Noble committee has brought shame to people like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and their work by conferring this award to Barack Obama. Because these people have proved themselves over the years and not just over the Weeks.

The award is certainly unexpected and might be regarded as more of an encouragement for intentions than a reward for achievements. After all, the president has been in office for a little over eight months and he might hope to serve eight years. His ambition for a world free of nuclear weapons is one that is easier to declare than to achieve and a climate control agreement has yet to be reached.
Indeed, the citation indicates that it is President Obama’s world view that attracted the Nobel committee – that diplomacy should be founded “on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population”.
