Load shedding or load sharing???

Really,

Is it load shedding or load sharing??? Obviously it is shedding from Governments’ perspective. As government can’t provide sufficient electricity to people, they try to shed off the responsibility from their shoulders and pass off that too people. This phenomenon hence we face is called as “Load Shedding”.

This has become a kind of festival in people’s lives now-a-days. Yes. This may sound ironic but this is the fact. Because people manage everything according to the load shedding hours. This is very much similar to Diwali or any other festival. We always wait for such an auspicious occasion to come. We wor hard and await the arrival of such festivals. Same is true with load shedding.

I will try and justify this with some examples. A housewife runs hard and try to get the ground nuts grounded in the stipulated time. There is no option of procrastination. If you procrastinate you will pay heavy price for that. Similarly, if you don’t iron your shirt and pant or saree too within that time, wear the creased cloths. Poeple now-a-days have started to sit in office for longer time. This is not because they care about the work, but because they are not willing to miss their favourite program or match, which they could have missed due to load shedding. There are myriad examples, justifying you the effect of load shedding in our lives.

Another strange thing I have noticed about load shedding (or is it load shading???) is that in winter when there is actually no die hard need of electricity in day time, as in winter afternoons are comparatively cooler, load shedding periods are very less. Contrast to this, in summer we all need electricity the whole day and can not live without that, the load shedding hours are more. How stupid is this thing??? Can MSEB or any electricity board think about this??? Don’t they have brains??? I am not able to figure out why this is so. For detailed insightful information about the difference and discrepency in load shedding hours, contact your respective state electricity boards.

Load shedding in places like Ambajogai, Parli, Buldhana last for almost 16-a8 hours. How fair is this load shedding period??? There are so many students studying hard for their respective exams. But if the load shedding persists for this long time, how are those students supposed to study??? And who is gonna take the blame of those students loosing thier grades??? While in Pune, Mumbai the load shedding in almost not there. Or at maximum it lasts for 1-2 hours. Why this impartiality??? If those cities are paying more, ask other towns also to pay more. But are you gonna provide them fair amount of electricity??? This is totally a mess.

Another thing comes to my mind when I think of load shedding is, why don’t Indian Government think and act on using Unconventional energy sources??? I am still not able to know why these sources are called Unconventional, despite they have been on this earth before anything came into being. So why call them unconventional??? In fact the sources we use now should be called Unconventional. Let that be. But why don’t Indian Government give subsidy on selling and manufacturing solar instruments instead of giving subsidies on complete waste things???

I think the solution to this problem according to me will be like following:

1) Impartialize the load shedding hours in all cities and towns.

2) Use various other “unconventional sources” to suppliment the need and distribution.

3) Reduce the load shedding hours in Summer time and increase in Winter time.

4) But most of all, try to eradicate the load shedding from people’s lives once and for all. Try some innovative ideas, do some research on this and come up with some bright ideas.

5) Use solar panels for lighting street lights and signals. As using solar panels for signals will reduce the load on board for day long time. Also street lights keep on providing bright light in day time also. So its complete waste of energy. And using solar energy will reduce the need of switching those lights off. (This will be very beneficial for lazy electricity board operators and linemen).

6) Also we can use the energy generated from the speed breakers and convert them for utilizing it for street lights or signals etc. There had been some experiments about converting the speed breaker energy into electricity. So capitalize on it.

These are some of the recommendations about using electricity in a better way. Reducing on load shedding and using electricity in a proper manner will help us in future. But we can not just blame electricity boards for this waste of electricity. People are also responsible equally. If people start to use electricity responsibly we can have load shedding free days, months or even years in our lives.

Prefer juices over cold-drinks…

Recently I was at my niece’s school for attending a Science Exhibition. The exhibition was having projects of students right from 1st standard to 10th standard. I was going through some of the projects and experiments. Astoundingly I came across a very simple, but very informative study project. The project spoke about and showed the ill-effects of Pepsi, Coke etc cold drinks on our teeth and other body parts too. The student emphasized the effect of cold drinks on teeth in particular.

The project was very simple. He had kept 4 eggs in the tray. One egg was looking white as if using “happydent white”. And the other two were looking like rusted iron and one was orange in color. Asked what is this, the boy promptly explained that,” egg shells are made of calcium. Similarly, our teeth are also made of calcium. When these eggshells were kept immersed in coke and pepsi showed signs of rusting and deteriorating. While the orange eggshell was kept immersed in Mirinda”.

When the boy showed me these observations and results, I was numb for some moments. My brain stopped thinking for some moments. And I thought, how much the cold drinks are spoiling our health. Despite knowing this, people go for cold drinks rather than some juices. Juices have some quality ingredients in it which will help boosting the health. Even the media industry is concentrating only on cold drinks. Why don’t people from media and entertainment industry come forward and try to imbibe in people the importance of drinking juices??? Is this only because of the reason that juice vendors or stalls cant pay them (stars) the money which these cold drink industries are paying??? Is this the sole reason???

Ithink stars should come forward and advertise the healthy product so that people will start to buy them. As we all know, people imitate highly influential personalities like Bollywood stars, I think this will be a better campaign to start selling such healthy juices instead of cold drinks. Because cold drinks don’t add any healthy ingredient, but juices do. What do you people say about this??? Should India experience anything like this???

This is the right time to join corporate world…

There is lot of hue and cry about the placement scenario this year. American bear is almost hugging the entire world, and trying to crunch everything, right from money to harmony. Amidst all this turmoil, India tried to show that it is standing tall instead of the global catastrophe. But some signs are there, that India is also feeling the heat and now it is also showing the signs of sweating. But the sweat beads will not turn into streams. So there is nothing to worry about, as India is having strong fundamentals.

As one side was showing the signs of going smooth, the major fraud in Indian corporate reign came into forefront. Satyam fraud hit Indian industry real hard. Everybody was in awe, thinking where from did this erupt??? Government was in complete shock knowing that almost 700 crore rupees were involved in this fraud. SEBI took it very badly, and was thinking, “despite the strict regulations and all, how on the earth did this happen??? And that too in front of our nose!!!”. So corporate world was shaken and IT world seemed to be crippling. But luckily, or rather due to strict regulations and string business ethics, IT industry stands tall with no visible effect on their revenues. Market also took Satyam thing as “fraud” and didn’t link that with slow down. That is the main part.

This is general prologue to have general idea about the corporate scene in India. Now coming back to the topic. Amidst these things affecting market, placements of engineering and MBA grads took a very high hit. This year, placements are taking place, but no one seems to be contempt with it, neither the company nor the student recruited. While due to credit crunch and all turmoil companies are trying to cut costs and sorts and students are looking for a guaranteed job, no matter what other conditions are. But everything is in the air, nothing is strongly standing on ground. Engineering students are asked to join BPOs and there is huge slack in MBA recruitments. Now, working in BPO, though it seems not so palatable, but is worth now. There are two different stands on this issue.

1)     One is, even though a company asks students to join BPO, I think its fair a deal. Instead of sitting idle and earning little penny will neither add to your resume nor will help you financially. So one should go for the BPO job, at least you are not sitting idle and earning something to feed you up. When the condition gets better, switch to a better and interested field. And when asked about your gap between graduation and this job, you can always clear their doubts by telling the fact. Recruiters like your candidness.

2)    And other dimension to this is, BPO job doesn’t carry any importance and the experience is not considered valid. So students are reluctant to go for BPO job. But as cleared earlier in the above point, a point can be made to the new recruiters by telling them the truth.

The other factor talked about these days is, whether this is the right time to join corporate or not. Some even say to the students who are about to pass out in next year that, till the time you pass out conditions will soften up and there will be no tension about getting a job. But in my view, India, despite the worse job conditions world wide, providing jobs to almost everybody. India does have the capacity to recruit everybody, so getting job is not a problem. But yes, the job may not be from the field of your interest. But hey, that’s the part and parcel of life. Life takes you to ride through all good and bad times. So don’t worry about that.

In my view, this year itself will bring more joy to grads by giving them jobs. And for joining the corporate industry, I think, this is the right time. As economy is strolling slowly, companies are at the lowest level (almost) in terms of revenues and everything. So if somebody joins at this moment, his career graph will be shooting upwards only. There will be no coming down, as this is supposed to be a rock bottom. There is no question of company eating your salary, as this will be the lowest (almost), and there can not be further diminution of your salary. Plus you get a better chance than to prove yourself than the people already with the company since long. You will have better and more avenues to hone and prove your skills. So according to me, this is the right and right most time to join any company and drawing most from the chance that you will be getting. Just stick to one company and milk the benefits easily.
